Good to hear all is going pretty much to plan. I think i speak for all readers when i say we need to read about some more daring escapades. Rent a Seagal(the master of the action thriller) film and take notes on how its done.
Speaking of Seagal, he is doing a gig in London. Debating whether to go - hopefully he will give some insight into the wisdom of a buddhist monk as well as a modest display of musical talent.
Funny hearing your views on the package tourists who claim to be travellers. However we all know there is only one type of traveller, the young Irish caravan dwelling, scraggy type, and it is for him a spiritual journey from kentish town to london boroughs through means of the paving industry. I went home for the weekend and popped in at your house, your dad showed me your acting debut on Star Plus and I have to say I was very impressed, he tells me your possible plans for returning home, albeit for a short while and insists we have a bbq or get together, we'll definately sort something out. Chatted a bit about your mountaineering course and agreed that it's an opporunity not to be missed. Will's fine and you'll be glad to hear he's finally given his missus the size 9. I did change course (to Psych) and all is going well, 2 more years for me, taking it easy at the moment; although getting what i can form the o.t.c.(overseas travel club).
It's nice to hear your gang could come and visit and that Alan could sponge some more time with you, I hope they had a good time and you and Alan shot some inspiring photos for your actor's portfolio at the site of the 'Man with he Golden Gun'. 1500USD for 45days of backpacking sounds like a pretty good deal so good luck with that.
Just updated myself of your adventures and sounds uttlerly amazing. Really wish I had the guts (and the cash) to do what you're doing!

Am enjoying watching the sun gleaming off the roof of the Opera House through occasional flurries of snow...although my life is more than a little hectic at the moment.

Work is horrendous as I have far more responsibility for important stuff like money than I'd like it really acts as a distraction from the other part of my life!...

So Dada Menswear....I've sold a few things through a shop in Camden...so there are random people wandering round with some Nina Penlington Originals...I have been approached by a couple of bands to style them...and my stuff is appearing in a charity fashion show tomorrow night at the Kentish Town Forum, raising money for the St Bart's Asian foundation with an expected 1000 strong audience...I hope my stuff doesn't look shit or it'll be a major embarrassment.

I'm also applying for deferred entry onto a hand tailoring course to start Sept 07...so I really need to start saving some money...but am getting more than itchy feet from my day job...I just cannot sit at a desk any longer...so I'm thinking of getting a part time job somewhere so I can spend more time on making clothes and try and get more and more into outlets across London...I really need to start making money from this..

fingers crossed that I don't go bankrupt before the dream happens...

Anyway...sorry for boring you. Continue having a fantastic time and I can't wait to see your first TV series...maybe I can design the costumes!
So how is Uni going, did you change course after all? What about Will?
I'm think i'm going to apply for the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Mountaineering Course, it's 1500USD and 45days long, living in tents. Should be a laugh, but it's not until August.
Lovely write up. Yo make the place sound really attractive. I hope none of the restaurant owners were hovering around the river banks to save a trip to the market. There was a case of a similar funeral being held on the Thames many years ago. Keep up the blog, its lovely to see what you are doing.
Very descriptive on Varanasi - I cannot say that this would make a good advertisement for the next Thompsons brochure! But this is what it's all about -seeing it all. How did your stomach stand up to the first taste of Indian cuisine? One could wonder what sort of meat you were eating, according to your write-up! (Aaagh)
Keep up the blogs!

Its good to see that your journey is not uneventful in the slightest. The stories of your borderline 'illegal' activities have kept me highly amused at work.
Sounds like you enjoyed the festive season anyway, but it obviously can not match the spectacular magical ambience and scenery of new year in gravesend as I so endured!

If you get a chance, you've definitely got to post a few more pictures up for our viewing (or deface as the case may be Alan!)

Hear from you soon
Awe struck reading through most of your comment and left completely unsatisfied with my own adventures you bastard. Hope you manage to get onto further expeditions with dendi as I'm sure he is an invaluable friend. Im writing this at 2015m we got up at sunrise to tackle the journey in ford transit vans, the conditions were fairly icy and i got a bit of a numb arse but it went fairly well. Nordic skiing again and have been out here for 3 weeks so far having trained in Austria for the most part. In the tourist's alps as I write and look forward to returning home later this month. Was unfortunate not to get onto an expidition to greenland at for Easter so back to southampton for me. I'm assured you're making the most of 2006, hoping to hear from you soon mate.

I wouldn't have thought you were a mountaineer, but clearly you surely are. How did Sherpa Dendi come to the conclusion that you were built for heights? It wasn't those massive mammaries was it?? Good lung capacity and all that! When you get to India, let me know what the difference between their Chicken Tikka Masala and ours is, and what their curried eels are like.

Happy new year, by the way! Hope you had a good one. I bet it was nothing compared to Event II though. Read all about what happened in my new year in my blog (www.alanbuttle.blog.co.uk) which I shall post shortly. You have ridiculously short hair now I understand. I still haven't cut mine. Not sure if I will any time soon. Anyway, I'll stop talking blabbering crap for fear of sounding like a woman.
Take it easy, mate!
